scanscan, mesh, text, photo, prompt-to-CAD is finally here
Cadio combines text-to-CAD and scan-to-CAD with a foundational model that understands hardware. One plugin in your existing tools — Rhino and Onshape today, Grasshopper, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks soon.
Even meticulous prompts miss critical detail
A 1,247-word prompt can specify bolt-hole coordinates, chamfer widths, and gasket groove depths. But no prompt carries every draft angle, thread pitch, and sealing-face tolerance that a manufacturer needs. Text captures intent — not the full engineering context.
Generate a CAD model of a valve cover — cast aluminium, overall envelope approximately 430mm long by 165mm wide by 95mm tall.
Twelve perimeter M6x1.0 bolt holes on a stepped flange, irregular spacing — measuring from the front-left datum: hole 1 at x=14 y=12, hole 2 at x=68 y=12, hole 3 at x=132 y=12...
Three oval spark-plug pass-throughs down the centerline at 110mm pitch, each 42mm by 26mm with a 1.5mm chamfer at the rim.
Integrated PCV oil-separator chamber on the intake side, internal baffle wall 3mm thick with a 2mm drain weep at the lowest point...
Cam-cover gasket groove 4.2mm wide by 2.4mm deep along the full perimeter, dovetailed to retain a moulded silicone seal...
Scans capture form — not function
A 3D scan produces a dense triangle mesh that looks like the part. But it has no idea which holes are M6 bolt holes, which surfaces are sealing faces, or which edges need a 2mm fillet. Geometry without design intent is not manufacturable CAD.
Cadio fuses both — and the spec sheet, and the photos, and the engineer's intent — into integration-ready, manufacturable CAD.
How Cadio works
A single pipeline that turns multimodal inputs into manufacturable, integration-ready CAD.
Multimodal inputs
Feed Cadio a 3D scan, dimensioned drawings, photos, spec sheets, and your own engineering context. Every input adds signal that text or scan alone cannot carry.
Foundational model + orchestration
Cadio's foundational model reasons across all inputs simultaneously — bridging the context gap that scan or text alone cannot. It understands manufacturing intent, not just geometry.
Integration-ready CAD
Editable BREP with named features — bolt holes, fillets, sealing faces, draft angles. Native output to Rhino, Onshape, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, STEP, and DXF. Not just 3D — manufacturable 3D.
Integration-ready output
Cadio's output flows into the CAD platforms you already use. One plugin per tool.
